Adding Azure DevOps organization to GitProtect

Adding Azure DevOps organization to GitProtect

To add a Azure DevOps organization to GitProtect go to the DevOps tab on the left side of the window, expand it and select Azure DevOps. Now click the Connect button oposite to Azure DevOps or Azure DevOps Server (Self-managed, On-premise version) depending on what do you use.

After pressing the Connect button, a pop-up window will be triggered in which you have to log in as a user with the correct permissions to repositories / projects that you want to protect (if the browser session is active, the process will be automatic). Then you need to Accept "Requested Permissions" for OAuth app.

Azure DevOps Server (Self-managed, On-premise version) does not support OAuth, only PAT.

If instead of OAuth app for some reason you want to use PAT for Cloud version, just select "Advanced mode" below.

In the Authentication section you need to select "Azure DevOps" and in Connect using you select "Username and Personal Access Token".

Be sure to enter your username rather than email address.

The last section to configure is Repositories list sync options.

In general, during the adding process, you can specify the hours, when GitProtect will synchronize the resource list with your Azure DevOps or set a time interval.

Before hitting the Proceed button, pay attention to the Default device. The default device is the device assigned to GitProtect that is used to retrieve Azure DevOps organization and their data. Default worker will also be responsible for performing backup operations. By default, the application uses a device marked with a "main" label, but you can choose, which device should be responsible for performing this operation by clicking the Change button and selecting one of the devices from the list.

This can be an important point if you decide to backup directly to local storage. For obvious reasons, Cloud worker does not have access to your local network.

Now the adding process is finished. You can hit the Proceed button.

Pop-ups

To add an organization correctly, you may be asked to grant permissions to the GitProtect application. Your browser have to allow pop-ups.

Depending on which browser you use, you can edit the browser settings or allow the permission window to be triggered once.
