SMB Share
Data storage is the location where the backups are stored. GitProtect allows users to define multiple datastores, and they can be assigned to any backup plans. During the backup, the agent writes data directly to the data storage, no other system element intervenes in this process. Storage management is available on the Storages tab in GitProtect Panel.
Adding storage
One of the many types is SMB share. To add new storage to GitProtect, open the Storages tab and click the (+) Add storage button. Performing this action will cause the display of the Add storage form. Regardless of the type of storage that you want to create, you're able to define the Storage name.
And Optional description.
These two fields will help you identify the storage if you'll decide to use many of them. In order to create SMB share storage, expand the Storage type list and choose the Network location (SMB share).
After that, fill out the login and assign a password using Password Manager. They need to match with specific domain credentials that share the network location.

The last part of the configuration is setting up the path to the shared location. Before doing that make sure that the device, which will browse the storage, can discover it. By using the Change button, you can select one of the devices assigned to GitProtect as the Browsing machine - the one that will connect the share to the system.
To set the path to share location type in the whole path or just the address of the server that contains the share in Path to the SMB share field.
Using the second option (which provides only a server address) will allow you to browse through the server shares by choosing the Folders icon.
Just select the share, that you want to store your data in and click Apply button.
When you are done with the settings, click the Save button.
Removing storage
To delete the existing data storage, open the Storages tab, then click on Recycle bin icon next to the storage you want to delete. During the delete operation, you have the option to delete all backups from the storage. All you have to do is select the checkbox. Confirm the operation by choosing the Remove button.
When you selected the delete option you have to confirm this operation via the Delete button.
If you don't delete backups from the storage you can simply re-connect the storage with the same path, which will allow you to recover previously secured data.
